Your family must have a child who is presently enrolled in school and reside in a region served by the nbn® network in order to qualify. Also, you cannot already have a broadband connection at home. To check your eligibility, reach out to the National Referral Centre on Anglicare Victoria’s website. If eligible, you will receive a code we can use to setup your service.

Frequently asked questions about SSBI

Still unsure? Have a look through our most frequently asked questions. Find out more about the School Student Broadband Initiative at the National Referral Centre’s FAQs.

Do eligible families have to pay anything?

  • No, there will be no charges to eligible families. Eligible families can receive a service with no monthly fees, set-up fees or hardware costs, until 30 June 2028.

How is a voucher made available and redeemed by an eligible family?

  • Vouchers are issued by the National Referral Centre, who will conduct a quick and easy eligibility check. Once approved, you can then use your voucher code to redeem a free service on eligible plans.

Can a family move to a new service provider in the free period?

  • No, an SSBI service is not able to be transferred to another SSBI internet provider. Families can choose to disconnect and leave the initiative at any time within the free period. If they cancel, they cannot re-join later.

What plans are available through this initiative?

  •  Eligible families can receive a free service until 30 June 2028 on our nbn 50 unlimited plan (or equivalent) with a free modem.
